The Lanai - San Mateo, CA - Vintage Tiki Bar - Unisex T-Shirt coen brothers A smaller audio cassette appearsThe Lanai stood as San Mateo's gateway to Polynesian escape, opening during the mid century tiki boom of the 1950s. Along the California peninsula, it carried the same exotic promise that swept the Bay Area after the war. Places like this turned a suburban evening into something transportive, one mai tai at a time. Part of our Vintage Tiki collection, celebrating the defunct golden era bars of yesteryear.
